Transition background

The Transition Town movement began in a small Devon town called Totnes. A group of people had been getting increasingly concerned about Peak Oil and Climate Change, and decided that the best way to tackle it was to take action on a local community level.

Working on the principles of building localised Energy Descent Plans, and of reskilling for a lower carbon future, they have had tremendous success at a local, national and international level.  Their ideas have spread like wildfire across a parched landscape, adapting to local circumstances and sparking off enthusiasm and action wherever they reach.

Councils and governments are starting to sit up and take notice of this thing called Transition.  Go to our links page to find out more yourself …
