Aberdeen Forward is launching a new ‘soft furnishing’ course next month. The course, which will be run at the charity’s premises at 2 Poynernook Road, Aberdeen, will teach people how to make their own curtains, roman blinds, cushions, duvet covers and pillow cases, which can be made from recycled materials.
It forms part of a newly revised programme of workshops that will teach people new skills and inadvertently help reduce waste at the same time. Other courses, many of which are to be run free of charge include: home made gifts, recycled fashion design, composting, card making and growing fruit trees.
The soft furnishing course will start on Friday 12 March from 9.30am- 12noon and will run for 10 weeks. It will be open to everyone and costs £90 for members of the Creative Waste Exchange and £120 for non members (annual membership costs £10). A further taster session will be held at the charity’s Open Day at 2 Poynernook Road, Aberdeen on 1st May.
