Well done to Inverurie Chartered Physiotherapy Clinic, who scooped the Alick Buchanan Smith Spirit of Enterprise Award at the Grampian Awards Ceremony last night. We were delighted to be there and delighted to be a finalist, so thanks goes to Enterprise North East Trust for this recognition and well done for putting on such a great event.

This Thursday Aberdeen Forward will find out if it has won the Alick Buchan Smith Spirit of Enterprise Award, part of Grampian Business Awards, which are run by Enterprise North East Trust. This is a fantastic opporunity for the charity to be recognised for the good work it does. Wish us luck!!!

Climate Challenge Event – 3rd June

Aberdeen Forward is organising a Climate Challenge Day on Thursday 3rd June at the University of Aberdeen.

Open Day this Weekend

The Creative Waste Exchange will be open this Saturday 1^st May, 10am – 2pm. We have lots of beads, good quality office furniture and the usual assortment of resources in our Aladdin’s Cave available. We are also opening our downstairs warehouse where we are giving away chairs for free! If you are needing reception chairs or stackable chairs come along and see what we have.

Aberdeen Forward Shortlisted for Spirit of Enterprise Award

Aberdeen Forward has been shortlisted for the Alick Buchanan Smith Spirit of Enterprise Award at the Grampian Business Awards. Further judging will take place later this month and the winner will be announced at a prestigeous Awards Dinner being held on Thursday 17th June at the Ardoe House Hotel.

Waste Prevention Officer

We are currently recruiting for a part-time project officer to join our team. The successful applicant will work on our composting at schools project. This will involve helping with waste audits, visiting schools and advising on suitable composting systems. Training is available for the right candidate.

7.5 hours per week.

Salary: circa £19,500 pro rata.

Funded until 31 March 2011.

Open Day Here Tomorrow

We will be open this Saturday 10am – 2pm at 2 Poynernook Road, Aberdeen, for our usual open day. We have a range of office furniture, stationery and craft items available including coloured paper, ribbon and trim, beads and findings and yarn both 100g and 50g at low prices.

Give or Take Sale this Saturday

Aberdeen Forward has been gearing up for a busy weekend this Saturday at our inaugural ‘Give or Take Sale’, which is being held at Stonehaven this weekend (Saturday 27^th March). We’ve had a lot of interest and a huge number of goods are expected to be on offer for people to take away for free.

The scheme forms part of an initiative set up by Aberdeen Forward to encourage people to re-use unwanted goods. The sale is being held at Stonehaven Town Hall and people are asked to bring goods along between 8.30am and 12noon. Items asked for include unwanted household & garden items, toys, bikes, kitchenware, books, CDs & DVDs, as well as plants and furniture.

In return, givers can then help themselves to other goods, which will be displayed between 12noon and 3pm, with everything on display being completely free.

Lynn Smith, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Forward commented: “the give or take day should be fun and the idea behind it is to get people to appreciate that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and recycling is an option for unwanted goods. We’ve already gained a lot of interest in the event and are looking forward to reinforcing our message on the day.”

This event has been supported by Waste Aware Aberdeenshire and Aberdeenshire Council.
